Arnaki Se Fillo (Lamb In Fillo) Recipe
Ingredients:
6 pcs lamb-leg steaks (boneless)
2 Tbsps of butter
1 clove garlic
1/2 c of melted butter
3 peeled tomatoes (medium)
125 grams of feta-cheese, sliced into 6 cuts
Ground pepper (black)
2 sliced onions (medium)
12 fillo-sheets
Salt
1 tsp of oregano or rigani
Instructions:
Trim off excess fats from steak then shape it neatly. Season w/ pepper.
You heat the oil in fry pan then quickly brown the steaks on every side. Lift them out into dish then leave to cool. You add the onions into pan then gently fry ’til transparent. You add the garlic then remove it from the heat.
You brush one fillo sheet pastry w/ butter that was melted then place an extra sheet above, coat w/ butter again. Fold into one-half to create a fillo square.
Set them aside & cover w/ dried tea-towel then w/ dampened towel as well. Repeat same process for remaining fillo-squares. You take individual squares & brush the top w/ butter, leaving the remaining part covered.
You place a lamb-steak at the middle then lightly season w/ salt. Then top it w/ garlic-onion mixture & cover w/ two tomato slices.
Sprinkle w/ some rigani pepper & salt then put one cheese slice atop. Bring the ends up then double-fold at the top. You fold the ends in then you tuck the ends carefully underneath.
Arrange them on greased baking sheet. Brush the sides & tops lightly w/ butter that was melted then bake them on preheated oven about 15 mins.
Garnish w/ sprigs then serve w/ boiled beans (green).
